1) What is Toastmasters Club?
Toastmasters Club!!! NOT a place to make “toast”!!!
It is an educational programme for students to enhance their public speaking, impromptu and leadership skills!!!
2) History of Toastmasters International:
- A non-profit organization originated at YMCA in Santa Ana, California since 1924;
- It now has nearly 250,000 members in more than 12,500 clubs in 106 countries;
- Members learn and practise by participating and fulfilling the roles in a meeting, ranging from giving a PREPARED SPEECH or IMPROMPTU one to serve as a TIMER, ‘AH’-COUNTER, GRAMMARIAN, TABLE TOPIC MASTER and EVALUATORS;
- There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting are critiqued by members in a positive manner, focusing on what was done right and what could be improved.
- Listening, Public Speaking, Impromptu, Evaluating, Appreciating, Public Relationship and Leadership Skills can be mastered through the toastmaster meetings.
3) How Toastmasters Work?
- Conducting Meetings - Members learn how to plan and conduct meetings.

- Offering constructive evaluation - Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
